Tasting Advice

Colour: Vibrant, very deep crimson Bouquet: The nose is very complex and perfumed, showing varietal notes of cassis, dark cherry and cedar spice. Palate: Harmony and balance are immediately apparent in this elegant but full-bodied wine. The palate is concentrated with a lovely finegrained texture and great length. Rich berry and cassis fruit of great purity reflecting both the great vintage and the pristine environment of Coonawarra.

Created to Honor

The St Hugo collection honours the legacy of Barossa winemaking legend Hugo Gramp. The grandson of pioneering vigneron Johann Gramp, who founded the Gramp & Sons winery in 1847. Hugo led the winery through a period of unparalleled growth from 1920 to 1938. Today, Hugo's visionary leadership and passion for wine are personified in the St Hugo range.

Since 1980, it has won a total of 250 GOLD MEDALS and over 1,527 AWARDS.

The St Hugo Cellar Collection is a tribute to our winemaking legacy. The best fruit was carefully chosen from blocks in South Australia’s finest wine regions, crafted in small batches and matured in our cellar.

Mark the Milestones

Premium fruit was sourced from vineyards in the north of the Coonawarra renowned for producing a denser, richer style of wine with plush tannins. Vintage Conditions Vintage was early across the Coonawarra region in 2012, but was widely described as “excellent”, with near perfect weather conditions producing fruit of outstanding quality.

Cabernet Sauvignon was highly coloured, concentrated and varietal. Post pressings and clarification the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and further maturation in 90% new French and 10% new American oak for a total of 23 months. Extended bottle maturation prior to release has allowed the wine to integrate.
